About the role
The African Journal of AIDS Research (AJAR) is looking for individuals who would like to gain experience as Associate Editors. Associate Editors have the following roles:- a preliminary review of manuscripts assigned by the Managing Editor; to check whether a manuscript is worth sending out for external review,
- to facilitate external reviews by finding and inviting appropriate academics to review manuscripts, and
- assist the Managing Editor to make decisions about reviewing and publishing manuscripts, e.g. in case where there are conflicting external reviews.

Key Skills and Attributes
- The capacity to devote time each year to the role, and to attend Editorial Board meetings and training sessions as needed.
- A commitment to engaging promptly and efficiently with Taylor & Francis staff and suppliers to implement necessary processes and improvements.
- A strong commitment to ethical rigour as well as knowledge of the COPE guidelines and commitment to ensure that the journal adheres to strict ethical standards at all times.
- A proven track record as an established or emerging key opinion leader and known figure within your academic discipline.
- Actively involved in growing and developing your academic networks through conference attendance and experience of networking through social media.
- A vision and enthusiasm for the continuous development of the journal.
