Associate Editors required

Journal cover: Connective Tissue Research

Deadline 25 September 2026

About the role

Connective Tissue Research is seeking Associate Editors.

We welcome applications from academics with a strong track record in mechanisms and structure-function relationships in the connective tissue extracellular matrix and biological process of tissue repair.  Candidates should complement the Editorial Board's existing strengths in musculoskeletal biology by bringing expertise in structural biology, biophysics, extracellular matrix biology, fibrosis, wound healing, immunology, and emerging omics-based technologies (e.g., spatial transcriptomics, proteomics, and systems biology). Preference will be given to individuals who are interested in serving as Guest Editors for a Special Issue on a topic aligned with the scope of the journal. Potential Special Issue topics currently under consideration include matrix–immune interactions, the mechanobiology of aging, connective tissue disease modeling, multi-omics approaches, and the evolving functional roles of matricellular proteins in degenerative diseases.

This is an excellent opportunity for hands-on subject matter experts who want to shape the literature of their discipline. In this active, operational role, you will oversee the peer-review pipeline for your specialty, ensure high scholarly standards, and collaborate with the leadership team to drive the journal's growth.

In this role, you will:

  • Manage the peer-review process for manuscripts within your field of expertise, utilizing the journal’s submission system.
  • Identify, recruit, and secure qualified peer reviewers to ensure timely, robust, and constructive evaluations.
  • Assess reviewer feedback and deliver clear editorial recommendations (Accept, Revise, Reject) to the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Uphold research integrity and publishing ethics, ensuring all handled manuscripts adhere to COPE guidelines.
  • Proactively commission high-impact content, including inviting submissions, proposing Special Issues, or developing article collections.
  • Actively promote the journal within your professional networks and represent the title at key events and conferences.
  • Participate in regular Editorial Board meetings to discuss journal performance, pipeline metrics, and long-term strategy.

Stepping into a supporting editor role is a rewarding journey that enables you to influence the future of your field. You will gain deep insights into the publishing process, expand your global professional network, and be recognized as a leading figure in the community.

The role offers:

  • Free access to 100 articles on tandfonline.com
  • 30% discount on books at routledge.com
  • Access to Taylor & Francis editorial resources and training
  • Formal recognition on the journal’s Editorial Board page

The appointment will start in October 2026.
