About the role
Would you like to be an Associate Editor of Interiors: Design/Architecture/Culture? Interiors: Design/Architecture/Culture is a leading peer-reviewed journal in the field of interiors. The journal is a venue for critical explorations of interiors from multiple perspectives, deepening the field’s scholarly foundations while also expanding its interdisciplinary scope. We are looking for Associate Editors with a background in one or more areas within the field of interiors, including design, architecture, history, theory, pedagogy, or a relevant adjacent field that engages issues of interiors and interiority. It is a key role, but one that is achievable within a continuing busy working timetable. Associate Editors are a part of the journal’s Editorial Board. Their main role is the management of the peer review of manuscripts by experts in the appropriate areas of the scholarly field. As such, they work directly with manuscript authors and peer reviewers. Associate Editor responsibilities include:- adhering to the Journal’s Guidelines on Publishing Ethics to assure the integrity and reputation of the Journal is always maintained. Taylor & Francis also refer you to the COPE Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors;
- identifying and securing peer reviewers based on appropriate expertise and availability within the overall timeframe established by journal Editors;
- communicating with peer reviewers, providing them with anonymous review-ready manuscripts and following up with the collection of results;
- relaying peer review results to Editors, as well as reporting their own assessment of the overall quality of the manuscript, in order to enable their decision-making in regards to the acceptance status of the submission;
- notifying authors of the editorial decision and forwarding peer review results for authors’ further consideration;
- facilitating the submission of any revisions by the authors prior to the final publication-ready manuscript submission;
- attending monthly online Editorial Board meetings;
- promoting the journal, including current calls for submissions, through professional channels and recruiting future contributors.

- The ability to foster positive working relationships with co-Editors and fellow Associate Editors.
