About the role

Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery is currently recruiting for Editorial Board members. This role is a great opportunity for an academic and/or industry-based researcher with a strong research background in all aspects of drug delivery research, from initial concept to potential therapeutic application and final relevance in clinical use, who also has the commitment, drive and ability to help develop the journal as it moves into the future. The position of an Editorial Board member is an exciting and challenging role. Not only would you be responsible for supporting the journal’s Editor-in-Chief, Publisher and Commissioning Editor across a range of editorial activities, but you would also serve as an advocate for the journal, and where possible, promote the journal at conferences, society events and within academic circles as well as by embodying the Taylor & Francis’ ethos of rigorous scientific integrity and strict ethical awareness. As part of this role, you will be responsible for contributing a review and/or editorial manuscript each volume year and reviewing manuscripts through peer review – so we would require you to have prior experience of operating within an online submission system (i.e., ScholarOne). Alongside this, we expect a strong publication track record of your own as well as a demonstrable passion for academic publishing. An enjoyment of the process would be beneficial towards the role as well! About the journal

Journal cover: Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery
Expert Opinion on Drug Delivery (1742-5247; 1744-7593) is a MEDLINE-indexed, international subscription-based journal publishing rigorously peer-reviewed review articles in drug delivery. Articles cover all aspects of drug delivery research, from initial concept to potential therapeutic application and final relevance in clinical use. Each article is structured to incorporate the author’s own expert opinion on the scope for future development. The journal welcomes:
  • Reviews covering delivery technologies, vehicles and devices; nanotechnology; novel formulations; the delivery of specific drug and therapeutic classes; gene/vaccine delivery strategies; modes of entry into the body and applications in certain diseases and disorders
  • Technology evaluations reviewing a particular drug delivery technology
  • Original research contributions are welcomed in the form of: - Delivery technologies, vehicles, formulations and devices; - The delivery of specific drugs and therapeutic classes; - Modes of entry into the body and applications in certain diseases and disorders.
    • Editorials commenting on the various drug delivery strategies which have been, and are being, explored
    • Guidelines on the application of specific drug delivery systems, or in specific disease indications.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • A tenured/permanent Associate Professor or higher rank and a recognized Key Opinion Leader in a broad, impactful field with a h-index of at least 40.
  • Actively involved in growing and developing your academic networks through conference attendance and experience of networking through social media.
  • Significant experience of academic publishing and familiarity with all stages of the process.
  • The ability to play an active role in reviewing papers submitted to the journal and prior experience in similar editorial roles.
  • The capacity to devote time across each year for attending editorial board meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • The desire to develop editorial skills further within the role and a willingness to engage in training to this effect.
  • A vision and enthusiasm for the continuous development and transformation of the journal through understanding its commissioning and publication processes.
  • A strong commitment to ethical rigor as well as knowledge of the ICMJE and COPE guidelines and commitment to ensure that the journal adheres to strict ethical standards at all times.
  • The confidence to engage with authors and researchers to solicit the highest quality submissions on behalf of the journal.
  • A willingness to support the commissioning editor in generating topical and impactful article ideas and approaching experts in the field.
