About the role

Clinical Toxicology is currently recruiting for a Medical Statistics Editor. This role is a great opportunity for an academic with a strong background in medical statistics, who also has the commitment, drive and ability to help contribute to an academic journal. As part of this role, you will be responsible for performing statistical reviews of selected articles being considered for publication in the journal.

Holding a supporting editorial role on a journal is a rewarding and fulfilling experience in which you have the opportunity to build your own networks, develop and promote research, and be recognized as a leading figure within the academic community.

The successful candidate will receive an annual Editor Expense payment for their work on the journal, alongside free online access to the journal, a 30% discount on books at routledge.com and formal recognition on the journal’s Editorial Board page.

The role will start from 1st January 2027.

Clinical Toxicology is a subscription-based journal that publishes peer-reviewed scientific research and clinical advances in clinical toxicology. The journal reflects the professional concerns and best scientific judgment of its sponsors, the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology, the European Association of Poisons Centres and Clinical Toxicologists,America's Poison Centres and the Asia Pacific Association of Medical Toxicology and, as such, is the leading international journal in the specialty.

Clinical Toxicology aims to be the journal of primary interest to practicing clinical toxicologists, whether in hospitals, poison centres, academia, government or industry. The journal is relevant to all professionals at the interface of clinical toxicology with acute care, occupational and environmental medicine, public health, regulatory toxicology, pharmacology and pharmaceutics, and analytical and forensic pathology.

Key Skills and Attributes

  • At least an MSc in Medical Statistics (or an equivalent degree) and preferably currently working in a University Department.
  • Some experience in academic publishing and familiarity with the stages of the process.
  • Expertise and access to a variety of popular statistical software packages (e.g., SPSS, JMP, SAS, GraphPad Prism, etc.)
  • The capacity to devote time to the role, and to attend online meetings and training sessions as needed.
  • The ability to communicate promptly with the Editor-in-Chief, Associate Editors and Taylor & Francis staff.
  • The ability to conduct statistical review of manuscripts in a prompt, consistent, ethical and professional manner.
  • The vision and enthusiasm to contribute to the continuous development of the journal.
