About the journal

Journal cover: Toxin Reviews

Toxin Reviews provides an international forum for publishing multidisciplinary research in the area of toxins derived from animals, plants and microorganisms, as well as chemical entities. The journal publishes high-quality original research as well as reviews, systematic reviews and meta-analyses. The aim is to publish content that is of broad interest and importance to toxinology as well as to the medical, biomedical, health and environmental sciences.

Toxin Reviews welcomes original research that highlights the contribution of toxins as research tools in deciphering molecular and cellular mechanisms, and as prototypes of therapeutic agents. The impact of toxins on human health, fauna and flora, and the environment will only be considered if these studies also included mechanistic aspects. Typically, Toxin Reviews will consider work on the actions of biological extracts, but only if the extract is purified and has a known chemical composition and the concentrations studied are validated.
